rkansas’s southwest and central regions offer superb destinations for crappie fishing. If your idea of a perfect day includes nothing but water and a line, look no further – your ultimate guide to catching crappie in Arkansas awaits.

Lake Greeson
Lake Greeson is the southernmost of Arkansas’s five diamond lakes (Catherine, DeGray, Greeson, Hamilton and Ouachita). Known for extremely good crappie fishing, Greeson boasts one of the largest collections of manmade artificial brush attractors in the state. Hundreds of fish attractors made from PVC, wood and bamboo have been placed in the lake to help anglers find locations to search for fish. Daisy State Park is on the shores of the lake and offers an ATV riding trail, a mountain bike trail, more than 100 campsites with a variety of options, a yurt rental, boat rentals, picnic areas and a playground.

Lake Millwood
Millwood Lake, on Ark. 32 nine miles east of Ashdown in southwest Arkansas, was formed when the state’s longest earthen dam (3.33 miles) was completed across the Little River. Millwood is a renowned fishing lake, with much of its more than 29,000 acres being flooded timber that provides exceptional cover for its wide variety of fish, including largemouth and spotted bass, crappie, white bass, striped bass, channel and flathead catfish and bluegills. Millwood State Park includes a camping area, boat ramps and a marina.
Lake Erling
Lake Erling is a hidden gem in south Arkansas. This 7,100-acre lake is quickly becoming a fishing hot spot for anglers around the country. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has even lifted any limit regulation on channel catfish. The crappie are huge and the bass are even bigger.

Lake Conway
Lake Conway is the largest Game and Fish Commission lake and the largest lake ever constructed by a state wildlife agency. Because of its large size, central location and excellent fishing, it has been one of the state’s favored fishing spots since it was built on Palarm Creek in 1948. Bass and crappie fans flock to Conway, hoping to catch one of the lake’s lunker largemouths or a mess of big slabs. Big blue and channel catfish are abundant, and Conway is a hotbed for monster flatheads.
Lake Atkins
Lake Atkins was built on Horsepen and Ten Yard creeks. The lake is packed with stumps, brush and logs, providing an excellent fish habitat. Boat lanes are cut through some of the timber. Four fishing jetties jut into the lake, allowing bank anglers access to prime fishing spots. In recent years, new boat lanes were cut, brush piles were placed and the drawdown tower was rebuilt. The Florida-strain bass and crappie have taken to the renovation, and the lake is known for trophy-class fish. The lake is fertilized annually to increase the size and numbers of fish it produces and is considered by many to be the best little fishery in west Arkansas.
Blue Mountain Lake
Blue Mountain Lake is an excellent fishery, with crappie being the favorite catch of the day. Fishermen also enjoy catching flathead and channel catfish, bream and bass in the lake and river. The lake offers about 2,900 acres of water at conservation pool (normal lake level). A delightful place to spend a few days camping, boating, water-skiing and fishing, Blue Mountain Lake has it all.
